There were small tornadoes and tornado watchers in some parts of Michigan at first, but the small tornadoes turned the tornado watchers into tornado warnings in the city.
So what happened?
Apparently, the tornado was spotted at Eaton Rapids at 5:31 PM, as it was going northeast at 35 miles per hour, as was stated by the National Weather Service. After 10 mins, there was an appearance of thunderstorms that began to be combined to produce a tornado near Charlotte going 35 miles.
A warning was issued around the areas that might be affected by the tornado, such as Waverly, Charlotte, and Potterville, and it ended around 6:15 p.m., followed by another warning in these affected areas, Holt, Lansing, and East Lansing, until 6:30 p.m., followed by another warning in these affected areas, Williamston and Webberville, until 7 p.m., and finally, areas warned, such as Albion, Mason, and Eaton Rapids were under the storm until 7:15pm.
It was advised that everyone take shelter and take over in the basement or other safe places until the tornado passed. When a tornado warning is issued, it implies that a tornado funnel has been spotted on weather radar. A tornado watch is less severe and indicates that tornadoes and strong storms are possible.
