What's Happening?
Wes Craven is one of the most famous directors around the world especially with this movie, as he made this movie feeling that this is what happened to him and his family, so what happened?
He lost his father at a very young age and he was grown up in strict household, not strict only its more of jail because he was not allowed to dance, go to movies nor drink, he even said that his first movie to watch when he was a senior at college which was "To Kill A Mocking Bird".
I think because of all the strictness that he has been into or never talked about his emotion, he turned into movies with rage and anger to let his emotions out, um sorry let's continue.
One of his first movies was "The Last House on the Left" in 1972 which was a horror movie that talked about two girls going into the city to a concert and drink and get wild, but they ended up a gang violating in the most horrible way you can think, which is also based on a true story, as well one of the movie reviewers that was interviewed said that this movie has one f the most sicking scripts and directed although both of these are made by Wes Craven and reviewed as the landmark of horror.
Yikes, this last part made me have chills
People were making superhero fiction at that time but Wes was doing scary movies that were based on an incident that happened in real life, he was famous in that industry at the time, as also one of the great movie actors "Ang Lee" said "it is one of the greatest movies ever, and now I've seen it, it should be banned" then he related the hills have eyes which made huge success as well in 1977.
After those movies he got a new idea of a movie after seeing a Los Angeles report of an unexplained cardiac arrest which is the one that inspired the movie the nightmare on elm street, Craven made a script, wrote and finished in 1981as he made the same thing like in the movie of the last house on the left to make the most horrifying stuff that could happen and put it a movie
The movie was released in 1984, as the villain appears in the teens' dreams and killing them in their dreams which killed them in real life, only one teen survive in the end as she becomes the link of the rest of the series of movies, after all those movies it was released that the villain Freddy became a children killer because he was the son of a nun who was raped by 100 men who was insane and was put in asylum as he grows up in an abusive household as he was burned alive by the adults of the area he grew up in, that explains his face and the burns because Freddy terrorized them, his soul was still alive and counting to haunt people.
Basically, what Wes read in the report that a family that just recently moved to America was talking about their child and how much he was so afraid to sleep due to dreaming about someone chasing him and scared to get him in the end, the boy stayed 3 days in a row awake because of how traumatized he was, but eventually he slept and the parents were relieved and thought it was over they heard him scream in the middle of the night and when they go there they found him dead, died because of a nightmare which people didn't believe in the beginning, so this became the whole story of the movie.
I always dreamt about people chasing me and falling but it was never that intense.
The director cared about the concept of the parents neglecting their son's biggest fear as he played that card in the movie, as in the movie the adults were not believing or focusing and only cared about their problems as the director chose the name Elm Street because it was common and there were a lot of incidents happening near that street like the assassination of John Kennedy.
The movie got so famous that they had to do other parts of the movie explaining the reasons of why Freddy became like this and still continuing the killing process.

Omg killing them in their dreams sound so intense...especially because I also have really bad dreams where people chase me or stab me.
